Description: KC Junior 1989 U13B RUGBY REPORT COACH: Angus Sholto-Douglas PLAYED 9 WON 4 DREW 2 LOST 3 POINTS FOR: 114 POINTS AGAINST: 117 CAPTAIN: Clyde Harrison MOST IMPROVED PLAYER: Paul Molesworth This side enjoyed their rugby to the fullest, with the accent on running rugby, for which they gained a reputation and a good deal of spectatorship. The players all have great talent which only really came to light in their second match against Graeme. The side lost 26-0 at the beginning of the season and then came back to beat the same side 6-0. After this victory their self-confidence was high and they ran the ball superbly and scored some brilliant tries. I would like to thank the side for their entusiasm throughout the season and to congratulate them for their style of rugby and the magnificent team spirit fostered in the ranks. Regular players were: Paul Molesworth, Mark Wittet, Shiresh Ranchod, Alastair Stuart, Tom Ansley, Hiltom Collett, Dawie Jordaan, Craig Bartlett, Ryan Fredericks, Clyde Harrison, Dale van Blerk, Brenden Kent, Bruce Morton, Luando Peter and Dale Wicks Nothing like a refreshing drink after a though match.

Description: Rugby 1970 KINGSWOOD WINS AGAIN In a match against P.J. Olivier, Kingswood played into the sun in the first half. From a tight scrum, after two movements had ended unsuccessfully for the home team, fly-half Wellington eventually scored near the posts for Kingswood in the 10th minute of play. He missed the conversion; P.J. Olivier on the whole played well on defence, saving themselves on various occasions from tries against them. The first half ended after a fine Kingswood movement had come to a halt close to the visiting team's line. Shortly after play resumed the Kingswood fly-half Wellington missed a penalty. Next to come to light was the Kingswood scrum-half. After a loose scrum near P.J. 0livier’s line he slid round the blind side of the scrum to score a superb try, which was unconverted. In the 50th minute, captain van Niekerk again scored for Kingswood from a five-yard scrum. Full-back Salmon converted. The Kingswood centre, Becker, put his side on the attack with a fine break followed by a grubber which went into touch on P.J. Olivier’s line. From the tight scrum which followed the line-out C. van Niekerk scored his third try for Salmon to convert. Kingswood’s left-wing, D. van Niekerk, scored an excellent try in the closing minutes of the game, making the final score 19-0. Kingswood 2nd team lost to St. Andrew’s 2nd 14-8.

Description: Rugby 1970 Exciting match won by Grey In an exciting game that swung from one end of the field to the other, Grey 1st beat Kingswood 1st by 11 points to 5 on Gane Field on Saturday. Kingswood played into the sun first and started off with good attacking rugby, but it was the Grey backs that were on top and in the 12th minute they scored. The conversion failed. The clever Grey 8th man, Karp, next broke from a loose scrum and after a good run, gave the ball to centre Cowley who scored. He converted his own try. Shortly after half-time, Kingswood’s left wing, D. van Niekerk, shot into the line to take a reverse pass from Wellington, and after a loose maul had formed the Kingswood captain, C. van Niekerk, went over for a superb try. Full-back Salmon converted. Not long afterwards Grey left-wing Rice scored near the corner. The try was unconverted. With both teams attacking alternatively form this point onwards, the game ended without a change in score.
