Description SALISBURY. — Eastern Province Schools, playing the more enterprising rugby, running with the ball at every opportunity, ran out comfortable winners by 36 points (six goals, a try and a penalty goal), to 11 (a goal, a try, and a penalty goal) against a disappointing Griqualand West Schools team, who could never get into top gear and were 8-21 behind at half-time. Eastern Province thus won all three of their games in the 1970 Craven Week tournament. The Eastern Province scrum-half, C. van Niekerk was the outstanding plaver on the field. He fed his fly-half well and initiated several good tries with some fine breaks around the base of the scrum. For Griqualand West eighth man Erasmus had a good game. Eastern Province’s points were scored through tries by left-wing Van Niekerk (two), centre Katherine, lock M. Botha, lock F. Botha, scrum-half C. van Niekerk, right-wing Watson (one try each), centre Cowley (five conversions), and fly-half Horn, who kicked a penalty goal and conversion. Griqualand West’s points came from a try by scrum-half Watt a try by centre Pienaar, a conversion and penalty goal by their fly- half Jooste.
